Tervetuloa ostoksille.
Varaathan ajan luistinten sovitukseen »Finnish skaters needed more options as only Wifa skates, which didn’t work for everybody, were available in Finland. Timo Ojanen took note of this problem through his daughter Hanne’s skating hobby. The skates just weren’t sitting right. The same issue occured with many other club members of Tikkurilan Taitoluisteluklubi. Timo established Skate Shop in his house in August of 1984. He was the first one to start importing Risport, Graf and Belati skates to Finland.
The store was so successful that it became impossible to run it at home in addition to working all day at another job. In the spring of 1990 Timo sold Skate Shop to figure skating coach Tiina Palin-Brummer. With Tiina Skate Shop grew into a legitimate store that operated at Helsinki Ice Hall. Tiina continued to expand the selection, especially to dresses and other equipment.
Tiina Palin-Brummer’s life situation took a turn and she sold the company to Hanne Dudman (maiden name Ojanen) and Inka Virkkunen (maiden name Järvi) in March of 2000. Skate Shop was once again co-owned by the Ojanen family. The premises at Helsinki Ice Hall became too cramped and in March of 2004 Skate Shop moved to bigger and better functioning premises in Lassila. Timo and Tiina’s way of operating has stuck as Skate Shop seeks to always provide enough options for customers and continues to expand the selection with new brands. In May of 2011 Skate Shop moved to more spacious premises in the neighbouring building in Lassila. In March of 2014 Skate Shop moved to atmospheric, better functioning premises in Malmin raitti.
